A new advanced testing machine for better infrastructure
Solomon Islands has reached a major milestone with the commissioning of its first Universal Testing Machine (UTM), boosting the country's ability to independently test and verify the quality and safety of construction materials.
The new equipment will help the Ministry of Infrastructure Development test the quality and strength of construction materials used in roads, bridges, buildings and other public infrastructure. The UTM will help deliver safer, stronger and longer-lasting infrastructure across Solomon Islands.
MID technicians have also received training to operate and maintain the machine, building local expertise.
Implemented by the Solomon Islands Government, the CAUSE II Project is supported by the World Bank and the Australian Government through the PNG and Pacific Islands Umbrella Facility Multi-Donor Trust Fund.

1⃣ Provide developing countries with 5,000 opportunities in AI training and seminar programs;
2⃣ Develop international AI application cooperation centers with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the League of Arab States, the African Union, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS;
3⃣ Enable 30 countries to use the Al-powered meteorological warning system, or MAZU.

We were delighted to officially hand over water tanks to Tasimboko Ward, helping address ongoing water challenges and improve access to clean and safe water for local communities.
This support is expected to benefit around 2,000 people across more than 30 villages and six churches, making a real difference for families who often travel long distances to collect water.
