SOLOMON WATER ADVISE CUSTOMERS TO USE WATER WISELY ADMIST DROUGHT WARNING Honiara, Solomon Islands (October 29), 2026—Solomon Water wishes to advise all our customers in Auki, Noro and Tulagi that, as per advisories from the Solomon Islands Meteorological Services concerning the current El-Nino and its drought impacts, Solomon Water is now observing deteriorating water levels at its sources in Auki, Noro and Tulagi. These deteriorating water level may lead to no water supply or intermittent water supply. Solomon Water is mobilizing and progressively implementing its EL-Nino Response plan for Auki, Noro and Tulagi and is also working closely with the Drought Advisory Group and our counterparts from the different government ministries. As part of its response efforts, Solomon Water has increased monitoring of water sources and is carrying out routine inspections and maintenance of critical water supply infrastructure to further strengthen system reliability. Solomon Water advises that the reduced rainfall and prolonged dry weather will affect water availability and place additional pressure on water supply systems in urban areas in Honiara, Auki, Noro and Tulagi, leading to no water supply or intermittent supply of water to its customer. Customers are encouraged to take the following precautionary measures to conserve water and help ensure that available supplies are managed responsibly. • Use water wisely: Avoid unnecessary water use and limit activities that waste water. • Store water safely: Store an adequate supply of water for essential household needs where possible, using clean, covered containers. • Avoid unnecessary water use: Reduce excessive washing, hosing, and other non-essential activities. • Report Leaks: Promptly report any visible water leaks or suspected illegal connection to Solomon Water Customer Service. Solomon Water also strongly appeals to the public to respect its water supply infrastructure. Vandalism and illegal tapping into the water supply system will only aggravate the issue of no water supply or intermittent water supply. Solomon Water Acting Chief Executive Officer, Ray Andresen, emphasized that the utility is taking structured, preventative steps to mitigate severe disruptions. "While we are facing lower-than-average rainfall, our teams are working around the clock to monitor conditions and strengthen our infrastructure," Mr. Andresen stated. "Should water levels dictate it, we are fully prepared to introduce temporary, scheduled water rationing to manage our shared resources responsibly. Our goal is to ensure continuity of essential services for everyone." "Conserving water is a shared community responsibility. We urge households, businesses, and institutions to adopt water conservation practices immediately. By acting proactively today, we collectively protect our limited water resources and reduce the strain on our network during this dry period," Mr. Andresen added. Solomon Water will continue to provide transparent, regular updates on water source conditions and any necessary conservation or rationing measures as the situation develops.

| Breaking the Stigma: Yvonne Shares Her Cancer Journey FFA today hosted Breast Cancer Awareness with a heartfelt session featuring Yvonne Ogaoga, a lawyer by profession with roots in Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea, who courageously shared her personal cancer journey, including the challenges she faced throughout her treatment and follow-up reviews. For Yvonne, her experience with cancer has given her a renewed sense of purpose: helping other women facing the same disease through awareness and advocacy. She shared how one woman once approached her to express gratitude for the difference she made in her life simply by raising awareness. The encounter made Yvonne realise that sharing her story and speaking openly about cancer could have a profound impact on others, even when she was unaware of it. Her experience highlights the power of sharing personal stories to break the stigma surrounding cancer, encourage others to seek support, and create safe spaces where people can speak openly about their experiences. Beyond her personal journey, Yvonne continues to advocate for greater cancer awareness within the legal profession, engaging her colleagues. She has also helped host a breakfast for cancer survivors and is working towards establishing the Solomon Islands Cancer Society to strengthen support for people affected by cancer. Her courage and advocacy remind us that behind every cancer diagnosis is a unique story that deserves to be heard, understood, and supported. This year's theme, "Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters," reminds us to approach every cancer journey with compassion, empathy, and understanding. FFA thanks Yvonne for sharing her story and inspiring conversations that help break the stigma surrounding cancer. SICCI Appoints Mr. Nelson Kere as Interim Chief Executive Officer. Honiara, Solomon Islands – The Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) officially announce the appointment of Mr. Nelson Kere as the Chamber’s Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective 19 October 2026. Mr. Kere, who currently serves as the Chamber’s Executive Officer, steps into the interim CEO role to lead the SICCI Secretariat and oversee its daily operations. We are pleased to announce three key promotions and appointments within our executive and management structure, effective 1 October 2026. The appointments, approved through Chief Executive Officer Mr. George Rausi, are part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen our leadership capacity, fill key organisational positions and support the achievement of our strategic objectives. The newly appointed and promoted officers are: Mr. James Kabini – Chief Operations Officer Mr. Roland Delemani – Chief Human Capital Officer Mr. Johnson Lobo – Strategic and Planning Manager In his new role, Mr. James Kabini will serve as Chief Operations Officer and Head of the Operations Department, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He will oversee the department’s responsibilities in supporting the effective delivery of Solomon Ports’ operational functions. Mr. Roland Delemani has been appointed Chief Human Capital Officer and will lead the Corporate Services Department, also reporting directly to the CEO. The role is central to overseeing corporate services and supporting the Authority’s human capital and organisational priorities. Meanwhile, Mr. Johnson Lobo has been appointed Strategic and Planning Manager within a newly established department under Solomon Ports’ organisational structure. He will report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, a position that is currently vacant. The establishment of this department reflects the Authority’s focus on strengthening its strategic planning and organisational development functions. Speaking on the new appointments, Solomon Ports CEO, Mr. George Rausi, said the appointments form part of his commitment to building a strong team culture grounded in a clear purpose, shared objectives and a collective commitment to achieving organisational goals, ultimately fostering a cohesive, high-performing team. Solomon Ports recognises the importance of effective leadership ,and a strong management structure in delivering our mandate and supporting the maritime transport and trade sector of Solomon Islands. The Solomon Islands Ports Authority (SIPA) has signed an agreement with Australia's National Transport Research Organisation (NTRO) to develop a new GreenPort Framework for the Solomon Islands. The framework will support SIPA’s commitment to strengthening the sustainability and resilience of Solomon Islands’ ports, while reflecting local priorities, environmental values and operating conditions. SIPA Chief Executive Officer George Rausi said the initiative was an important step for the organisation. “Our ports are critical to the Solomon Islands economy and our communities. This framework will help us continue developing our ports while protecting our environment and strengthening resilience for future generations,” Mr Rausi said. NTRO Executive General Manager Jason Sprott said NTRO was proud to work alongside SIPA. “This will be a genuinely Solomon Islands-led framework. Our role is to bring our experience from across the Pacific, share knowledge and work side-by-side with George and the SIPA team to develop something practical, locally grounded and built for long-term impact,” Mr Sprott said. The project will now move into the co-development and stakeholder engagement phase, ensuring the final framework reflects the needs and aspirations of SIPA and the Solomon Islands. Since 2017, Solomon Ports has been actively implementing Green Port initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental impact of its operations and promoting more sustainable practices across the organisation. These initiatives include improving energy efficiency through the introduction of greener technologies, such as energy-efficient LED lighting at our International and Domestic Terminals, as well as promoting environmentally responsible workplace practices and improved waste management. Our commitment to sustainability also extends beyond our port operations through community support and environmental awareness initiatives, recognising the important role Solomon Ports plays in protecting our environment and supporting the communities in which we operate. Through these ongoing efforts, Solomon Ports continues to strengthen its commitment to efficient, responsible and sustainable port operations, while contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future for Solomon Islands. Solomon Islands Ports Authority (SIPA), trading as Solomon Ports, has reaffirmed its commitment to sports development in Solomon Islands with a SBD $100,000 sponsorship towards the Solomon Ports National Rugby 7s Tournament, scheduled to take place in Honiara this September. The 3 day Rugby Competition will commence on Wednesday 16th Sep and ends on Friday 18th Spe. The tournament will bring together 8 Association members and top 4 local clubs for the Men’s category. While 4 teams for women’s category , and 13 teams from High schools. The Leaders Ascent Dialogue, hosted by President of Palau, H.E. Surangel S. Whipps Jr., brought together Pacific leaders and development partners to advance climate action ahead of COP31 and during the 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting. The dialogue focused on regional solutions to climate change, with particular emphasis on energy security and the Pacific’s ambition to achieve 100% renewable energy. Discussions highlighted the urgency of accelerating the transition to clean energy while ensuring no communities are left behind. The Governor of the Central Bank of Solomon Islands (CBSI) has been formally appointed as Vice Chair of the Pacific Islands Regional Initiative (PIRI), following the leadership rotation endorsed at the 15th PIRI Leaders' Roundtable held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The appointment reflects the growing role of CBSI in advancing financial inclusion and digital finance initiatives across the Pacific region and reinforces Solomon Islands' commitment to regional collaboration and policy leadership. During the Leaders' Roundtable, the Governor provided updates on several key CBSI initiatives, including the upcoming nationwide Financial Services Demand Side Survey, progress on the Unified QR Code project, development of the Digital Financial Literacy Hub, implementation of Inclusive Green Finance activities, and financial literacy programmes reaching communities across the country. CBSI also reported advances in MSME financing, the National Payment System, and preparations for the rollout of Bokolo Cash, the Bank's Central Bank Digital Currency initiative. Speaking after the meeting, the Governor acknowledged the importance of regional cooperation in addressing shared opportunities and challenges in financial inclusion. The launch took place during the AFI Working Group Convergence in Port Moresby this week as part of the 2026 AFI Global Policy Forum programme. The initiative provides a platform for former Working Group participants to remain connected with AFI activities, continue sharing expertise, and contribute to advancing financial inclusion long after completing their active Working Group service. Speaking at the launch, Governor Forau emphasized the important role that AFI Working Groups have played in developing practical financial inclusion solutions and strengthening cooperation among policymakers and regulators across the globe. “AFI's Working Groups have brought together hundreds of policymakers and regulators from across the network to develop practical solutions and advance financial inclusion. WG-CONNECT ensures that this expertise remains connected and continues to support the growth of inclusive financial systems around the world,” Governor Forau said.
