URGENT NOTICE: Request for Students to Visit SITESA for Scholarship Documentation The Students listed below are requested to see Ms. Doreen Alfred at Level 3, SITESA Building. Click to view ID: https://www.sinu.edu.sb/.../Revised-Copy-of-First-Year... Please ensure that you bring all relevant documents, including: Passport, if you already have one; Birth certificate; Academic transcripts and certificates; National identification documents; and Any other supporting documents required for the scholarship application process. For students who do not currently have a passport, SITESA will liaise with the Immigration Division to assist in expediting the passport application process, so that all requirements can be completed within the stipulated timeframe. PRESS RELEASE | 20 August 2026 FNMHS Hosts Mini Symposium to Showcase Staff Research Findings The Solomon Islands National University (SINU) Faculty of Nursing, Medicine and Health Sciences (FNMHS) hosted a Mini Symposium today, providing an opportunity for lecturers to present and share their research findings. FNMHS Dean Dr Humpress Harrington said the symposium marks an important milestone for the faculty and provides a platform for staff to showcase research projects undertaken since 2025. He highlighted the importance of research in encouraging staff and students to develop their research interests, strengthen presentation skills and contribute to new knowledge that can improve professional practice and inform policy. Director of the SINU Research and Postgraduate Division, Dr Hugo Bugoro, congratulated staff who presented their research and encouraged them to continue engaging in research. NOTICE TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS OF J1 & J2 Subject: No Classes for J1 and J2 – Friday, 21 August 2026 Dear Parents and Guardians, Warm greetings from Chung Wah School. Please be informed that there will be no classes for Junior 1 (J1) and Junior 2 (J2) on Friday, 21 August 2026. On this day, Chung Wah School will provide the venue for a Speech Competition on Crime, organized by the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF). The programme will take place in the school hall from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will involve participating students, officials, teachers, and invited guests from across Honiara. As the J1 and J2 classrooms are located directly next to the school hall, the activities, speeches, movement of participants and general proceedings are expected to create increased noise and activity around the classrooms. After careful consideration, the School Administration has decided that it would be in the best interest of our youngest learners to remain at home for the day, so that their learning is not disrupted and they can continue their activities in a calm and comfortable environment. To ensure that learning continues, J1 and J2 teachers will provide a small homework/home-learning task for the children to complete at home. We kindly ask parents and guardians to assist and encourage their children with the assigned activities. Please note that this is a one-day arrangement only. Regular classes for J1 and J2 will resume on Monday, 24 August 2026. We sincerely appreciate your understanding, cooperation and continued support as the school cohosts this programme while also ensuring that our youngest learners' learning needs are carefully considered. PRESS RELEASE | 14 August 2026 SINU and Tabaka Technical Institute Sign Landmark MoU to Strengthen Provincial Technical Education The Solomon Islands National University (SINU), Tabaka Technical Institute (TTI) and the United Church Education Authority have signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen technical and vocational education and training (TVET), institutional capacity and access to skills development in the provinces. The partnership will support collaboration in curriculum and programme development, professional development, quality assurance, governance, industry partnerships, apprenticeships, applied research and digital learning. SINU Vice-Chancellor Professor Transform Aqorau said the MoU connects SINU’s national mandate with the skills and aspirations of provincial communities, while strengthening pathways for learners and supporting employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. TTI Principal Mr Joash Lawrence welcomed the partnership, saying it will provide opportunities to strengthen TTI’s programmes, trainers, governance and quality assurance systems. Education Provider representing the United Church Education Authority, Mr Trevour Bele, also welcomed the agreement and highlighted the importance of strengthening institutional capacity and ensuring TTI continues to provide relevant and quality technical and vocational education. The five-year partnership reflects SINU’s wider commitment to working with technical training institutions across the provinces to expand access to quality TVET and support skills development closer to communities. PRESS RELEASE | 14 August 2026 SINU and SPC Strengthen Partnership in Fisheries, Agriculture and Island Futures The Solomon Islands National University (SINU) welcomed Dr Paula Vivili, Director-General of the Pacific Community (SPC), and his delegation for discussions on strengthening cooperation between the two regional institutions. The discussions explored opportunities for deeper collaboration in fisheries education, applied research, professional training and community engagement, as well as agriculture, including climate-smart farming, food and nutrition security, biosecurity and livelihood development. Further opportunities will also be explored through SINU’s Centre for Islands Futures, particularly in connecting research and innovation with the needs of government, industry and communities. SINU Vice-Chancellor Professor Transform Aqorau highlighted the importance of SPC’s technical expertise and evidence-based approach in supporting sustainable development across the Pacific.
