Expression of Interest (EOI) – Land Use Expert for UNCCD 2026 National Reporting Application Deadline Extended The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAL) invites Expressions of Interest from qualified individual consultants to serve as a Land Use Expert for the Solomon Islands 2026 UNCCD National Reporting Process. This short-term consultancy will support the preparation of Solomon Islands' national reporting obligations under the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). The assignment is based in Honiara and will run for 55 working days over five months (July–November 2026), with possible consultations in the provinces as required. 📢 VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT – SOLKAS PROJECT The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MALD ) invites expressions of interest from qualified individuals, consultants, firms, builders, and contractors for two consultancy assignments under the Solomon Islands Knowledge-Action-Sustainability for Resilient Villages (SOLKAS) Project at Tenaru Field Experiment Station, Guadalcanal Province. 🔹 Independent QA/QC Consultant – Provide independent quality assurance and quality control oversight throughout procurement, construction, commissioning, handover, and the defects liability period for the Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) Infrastructure Project. 🔹 Consultant/Builder/Contractor – Design, construct, install, test, commission, and hand over a modern Climate-Smart Agriculture nursery, including greenhouse infrastructure, irrigation and fertigation systems, renewable energy, environmental controls, rainwater harvesting, and associated site works. The SOLKAS Project is funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) with co-financing from the Governments of Australia, New Zealand, and Solomon Islands to strengthen climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods. Alumni association to connect job seekers with employers face-to-face

BY JOSES SAREN The Solomon Islands Australia Alumni Association (SIAAA) is organising a face-to-face networking event to connect its members directly with employers who are hiring, as part of a new push to help recent graduates and job seekers find work. According to a statement from SIAAA, the association is “bringing employers to” alumni rather than leaving job seekers to guess what the market wants, giving them the chance to ask potential employers directly. The statement said SIAAA is collecting input from alumni through an online survey to ensure the employers invited match members’ qualifications and backgrounds. The Career Connect Initial Survey, open now, asks alumni who have recently graduated from university or undertaken further study to share details of their qualifications and job search needs. Alumni can complete the survey at https://forms.gle/fpEJkFKGqCaU2EWF6 , or visit their Facebook page to find the link and SIAAA is encouraging members to share it with fellow alumni who are job hunting.
